Proverbs 11:2 AMP – “When pride comes [boiling up with an arrogant attitude of self-importance], then come dishonor and shame, But with the humble [the teachable who have been chiseled by trial and who have learned to walk humbly with God] there is wisdom and soundness of mind.”
Have you ever experienced a person that is arrogant and full of pride? I know I have … and if I’m being honest, there are moments when I was prideful myself. When I read this scripture, I could remember instances in my life where I felt like my needs and my feelings were more important than others. To truly call it what it is … I was self-centered. I thank God for His son Jesus and allowing me to be forgiven for all of my sins, and giving me a second chance to grow into a better individual that is now humble and asks for increased wisdom on a daily basis.
As you read this, you may recall similar instances in your own life. Digging into this, I found that not only is pride a sin, but God resists the proud (James 4:6 KJV). Proverbs 8:13 KJV says, “The fear of the Lord is to HATE evil: PRIDE, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” Isaiah 2:11 AMP says, “The proud look of man will be degraded And the arrogance of men will be humbled, And the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.”
If you are currently dealing with the spirit of pride, take a moment to repent and ask God to be delivered from this sin. There is no way you can really come into a real relationship with God and still be proud. I pray this blesses you to make a change for the better.
