Can You Control Your Tongue?

James 1:26-27

If you are like me, you may have found yourself in some messy situations where your mouth has gotten the best of you. In the moment, you may believe you are simply expressing your feelings about another person and how they mistreated you or maybe you found yourself in the middle of gossiping about someone as you casually spoke with a friend.

In either instance, this can lead to destruction and it is best to repent as soon as you realize what you have done. Don’t be deceived by the world or the devil into a bad situation. Although the person may not know you are speaking ill of them, God sees all. I believe David Guzik said it best, “many are deceived in their own heart regarding the reality of their walk with God.”

If you know you need to repent, do it now … God is waiting.

James 1:26-27 NLT – “If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
